• It depends on the month, but I am usually booked 2-4 weeks out. Therefore, it is best to contact me as soon as you know you’d like to have a session.

  • If you have a newborn, the ideal time to photograph them is within 10 days of their birth.  Once newborns are 10 days or older, “artistic” newborn baby images are harder to achieve as they sleep less and can become fussy when placed on their tummies or in other poses.  Newborn babies should be photographed while sleeping because they are peaceful in appearance.  While awake, their movements often look awkward and uncomfortable in still images.  However, if there are circumstances that prevent us from being able to photograph the baby prior to the 10 day mark, it is totally o.k. I will photograph the newborn baby WHENEVER the parents are safe and comfortable coming in for the session.

  • Any time is a good time to photograph your child (or children).  However, during the first year, once the baby can sit up but before they can crawl is a great time to capture.  This is generally between 6 and 9 months for most babies.  By this time, they have developed great little personalities and I feel that some of my most artistic and creative images come from these sessions.  This is also a developmental timeframe that most parents recall very fondly.  Once babies start crawling, they start to lose their chubby ‘baby’ physiques.  Another great time during the first year is right around the baby’s first birthday.    We can commemorate your baby's birthday with individual portraits and a "cake smash" at the end.  After babies turn 1 year old, any time during the year is a good time to choose for a session. Most of my clients who are expecting or have new babies select one of the multi-session packages which helps document your baby’s first year.

  • Each session and family are different, and I will provide specific clothing recommendations and guidance during the planning stage of your session. I suggest a pre-session consultation in your home so we can do the wardrobe planning together to minimize any stress with what to wear. For baby and children’s sessions, I am asked quite a bit about the hats, clothing and props shown in the baby and children images in my portfolio. The vast majority of those are items I purchased for studio use and I enjoy selecting, accessorizing, and customizing sessions using these items to correspond with the color schemes and rooms throughout your home. Many of them are one-of-a-kind antiques and hand made items designed especially for my backgrounds and photographic style. Even though I often choose to use props, I still try to keep the final images clean and uncluttered looking so that the focus remains on your child. The use of these unique props and how I use them in the images are one of the reasons my portraits are unique and different from those offered at other local photography studios.

  • A session designed around YOU. Promoting you, your brand, and/or your company. I will be asking a lot of about your line of work, company, business goals, who your ideal customers/clients are, etc. so that we create images that reveal the real you. You can have your hair and make-up done prior to the session and can be photographed in multiple outfits and more than one location. My thoroughness in the beginning learning all about you yields amazing images you’ll love and be proud to promote and market yourself with. At the end of your experience, you’ll have not just one, but a COLLECTION of images that conveys your true essence and elevates your brand. I have photographed people with all types of careers from real estate to authors, doctors, artists and various business entrepreneurs. Not a working professional? I would LOVE to create the most amazing photographs of you! Stay at home moms, empty nesters, I’m talking to you :)

  • No, don’t wait. You never know what lies ahead. Plus…I am an expert in both posing and Photoshop. Between great posing, flattering, soft lighting and Photoshop, I can easily make you look 10-20 pounds lighter! I always guide my clients on posing and angles that slim naturally.

  • Babies and children usually need very little retouching, their skin is amazing. For teens and adults, the hair and make up artist will do an amazing job to bring out all your best features. As far as the degree of editing I typically do, I keep things looking natural, not plastic or overly Photoshopped. I retouch blemishes, fly-away hairs, etc. It’s always good to let me know ahead of time if there is something you or another subject are particularly sensitive about so that I can downplay areas or features. I usually ask about this during the consultation.

  • Usually between 32 and 36 weeks, but it depends on the mother and her health and comfort level as she approaches the due date.  Occasionally, it is better to take them earlier. As long as the mom-to-be has a good sized belly, we are good to go!

  • I offer multi-session packages which help document your baby’s first year. This is a great way to start a collection of images that blend together beautifully and showcase one of your most significant accomplishments in your life, the beginning of your family.

  • Yes, they are.

  • We will set up an ordering appointment for you to view and order your portraits approximately 2 – 3 weeks after your session. Orders typically take four to six weeks to arrive. Orders containing specialty items such as Butterfly Books and Butterfly Boxes may take longer.
